Mr Tan Chap (田捷) is a senior member of the Malaysian Bar and the founder of Tan Chap & Associates. Prior to establishing Tan Chap & Associates, he graduated from University of London, LLB (Hons) in 1987 and was called to the Malaysian Bar on 1991.
Prior to engaging legal practice, he served as a Chinese Language Lecturer in various teacher training colleges. To this effect, Mr Tan Chap is also both a graduate from University of Malaya with B.A (Hons) in 1971 and from University of London with B.A (Hons) (Chinese) in year 1979.
As a legal practitioner with over twenty five (25) years of court experience, Mr Tan Chap is equipped with extensive experience in providing practical and effective legal advice covering a board field including but not limited to corporate and commercial litigation, banking, real estate and family matters.
With an impressive educational background complimented with vast experience of the law, Mr Tan Chap is notable for his ability to research and analyse sophisticated legal questions, allowing him to precisely pinpoint and resolve complex legal disputes with ease.
Tan Seok Kett (陈叔杰) is one of the founding partners of the firm. He holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of London (LLB (Hons) and is admitted to the Malaysian Bar in 1989. His extensive experience in practice include litigating at all levels of Malaysian courts, appellant counsel and arbitration experience.
To further bolster his extensive experience, he is also appointed as a Notary Public in 2005 (www.agc.gov.my) and has since specialized in notary works. His clients include local and foreign companies such as subsidiary companies for Sinome International Engineering Corporation Limited set up in Malaysia, SEC (M) Contracting Sdn Bhd and foreign embassies in Malaysia.
Tan Hui Yin (田徽音) is an experienced legal practitioner with over twelve (12) years of practicing experience. She graduated from University of the West of England, Bristol in year 2004 with a second upper class honours and was called to the Bar of England and Wales in November 2005. She subsequently commenced her pupillage in a reputable litigation firm and had practiced in Tan Chap & Associates and is now a Partner of the firm.
She has invaluable exposure to litigation and commercial practice. Her outspoken trait as an excellent communicator allows her to converse and communicate efficiently with clients, be it corporate or individual.
Her practice fields include conveyancing, corporate commercial, real estate banking and etc, to which her traits are put to good use. In addition to her years of practice, her previous employment as a in-house legal counsel with a reputable developer company and her secondment with an international bank further equipped her with insights and experience with her practice – which she is eager to utilize to better serve her clients.
Tan Geng (田赓) is a young, passionate lawyer graduated with a Bachelor of Laws from Cardiff University, United Kingdom. He is admitted as a Barrister-at-law in Lincoln’s Inn, London in December 2015. He is called to Malaysian Bar on October 2017.
Having completed his pupillage in the same law firm, he is exposed to a myriad of fields such as general litigation, family litigation, wills and administration of estates, general conveyancing practice and many more.
He is currently a Legal Assistant focusing on litigation practice while having occasional exposure to other fields like conveyancing practice and corporate practice. He is experienced in handling court matters such as conducting ex-parte matters and interlocutory hearings.
He is always eager for new exposures and prides himself for his initiative to learn.
Sutina Binti Sujeno graduated from University of Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) with a second upper class honours in 2013 and commenced her pupillage in the firm thereafter. She is subsequently called to the Malaysian Bar in October 2014.
During her pupillage, she has been exposed to the firms’ estate and banking department. Her exposure to the same earned her invaluable insight and experience to the same.
She now practices as a Legal Assistant who focuses on conveyancing practice and is experienced in real estate transactions, conventional and Islamic banking.
